::: Atom ::: St-Laurent Spartans     14 Western Patriots        18 ::: Mosquito ::: St-Laurent Spartans     58 Western Patriots        06 ::: Peewee ::: St-Laurent Spartans     14 Western Patriots        56 Another week, same results  The five Spartans teams were in action this past weekend, and unfortunately, the results were very similar as that the previous weekend. 1-4 for the Orange-&-Black, with only success coming from the mosquito  division, a team that is so far well above its competition and already could legitimately eying a run until very late this fall season. The silver lining of the some of the setbacks is that both the bantams and the atoms came very close again et it is likely that success is right around the corner. Next week, for the long weekend, all Sprtans teams will be on-deck Friday and Saturday, with both mosquito and atom teams doubling-up on Labour Day Monday. (Full Schedule)

::: Bantam ::: St-Laurent Spartans     13 Western Patriots        20 ::: Midget ::: St-Laurent Spartans     06 Greenfield Park Packers 35 Un autre weekend, même resultats  Les cinq équipes des Spartans étaient en action ce weekend, et le resultat fut malheureusement assez similaire à celui de la semaine précédente. 1-4 pour les Orange & Noir, le seul succès revenant à la  formation moustique qui survole ce début de saison et annonce dors et déjà que ses prétentions peuvent aller jusque tard en novembre. Le point le plus positif est que les formations atomes et bantams sont encore passés très prêts et on peut presager que le succès viendra três bientôt. La semaine prochaine, pour le long weekend, toutes les équipes seront à l’oeuvre vendredi et samedi, et les moustique et atomes remettrons cela le lundi, fête du travail. (Calendrier complet)

HOME OPENER 2013 The 2013 Spartans football season is underway after a full weekend of football at St-Laurent Park. The Peewee, Bantam and Midget programs were inaugurating their season, while the Atom and Mosquito, played in their second. The beautiful weather for the three days made the playing conditions ideal and a good crowd was on hand all three days to enjoy the action. Unfortunately for the home teams, despite outscoring their opponents a combined 100 to 89, the Spartans could only a single win in 5 games.

MATCH D'OUVERTURE 2013 La saison 2013 de football des Spartans a bien démarré avec un weekend complet de football au parc St-Laurent. Les trois plus vieilles équipes (peewee, bantam et midget) inauguraient leurs saisons respectives, alors que les plus jeunes (atome et moustique) en étaient à leur deuxième semaine. Le temps magnifique lors des trois jours a rendu les conditions de jeu idéals, et une bonne foule était présente profiter de l’action. Malheureusement pour l’équipe locale, malgrès avoir combiné un score de 100 à 89 sur les 5 matches, les Spartans ne sortent qu’avec une seule victoire.

This games will remain one of the memorable one of the season, but probably not for the right reasons. Following a see-saw game, and with the clock showing 00.00, the youngest Spartans were unable to keep their 28-26 lead, which was obtained notably through the two major scores by QB Ashton Moustache. Unfortunately, the last play was the one too many. The defense was not able to stop Lakeshore RB Louis Vincent, and were not even able to try to answer that score. The injury to young Divine Willy on a defensive play earlier in the game, and that was concerned all present, turned out to be innocuous and Divine was back at the park later in the afternoon.

Ce match restera gravé dans les mémoires de l’équipe, mais pas pour les meilleurs raisons. Après un match plein de revirements, et avec l’horloge montrant 00.00, les plus jeunes Spartans n’ont pu conserver leur avance de 28-26 qui avait été acquis grâce notamment à deux scores majeurs du QB Ashton Moustache. Malheureusement, le dernier jeu fut celui de trop et ils purent arreter le RB de Lakeshore Louis Vincent sans avoir même la possibilité de donner la replique. La blessure du jeune Divine Willy sur une jeu defensif, qui a inquièté un moment, s’est heureusement révélée sans gravité et il a pu revenir au parc plus tard dans l’après-midi.

Already seen as one of the most dangerous team in the league after the stellar preseason performances and a great crop of returning players, that status can only be bolster after the complete domination of WMFL defending champions Cougars. The Mosquito team, behind the tireless work of QB Tristan Pelletier, put the beyond any doubts before the end of the 2nd quarter.  The team now leading the league at 2-0,  has provided the  association its first two wins of the season. It also showed how much improvement has happened since last season, when in the similar game, they had lost to Lakeshore by a wide margin.

Déjà considérée comme une des équipes à surveiller dans la ligue, du fait de ses performances en pré-saison et la belle moisson de joueur de 2e année, le programme moustique n’a fait que de renforcer ce statut suite à la domination totale des champions en titre de la WMFL. L’équipe de St-Laurent, mené par l’infatiguable QB Tristan Pelletier, s’est permis de mettre le match hors de tout doute avant même la fin du 2e quart.  L'équipe qui est en tête du classement de la WMFL (2-0) donne pour le moment les deux premieres victoires de  l'association. Ces performances montrent aussi le chemin parcouru depuis l'an dernier, quand dans le match correspondant, Lakeshore l'avait emporté sur large score.

The missing players because of vacations were already a cause for some concern, but when the team lost DL Alessando Bitteti early in the game, it was legitimate to think this was going to be a longue day, as the guests were the WMFL defending champions. But things did not go that way. The Spartans were able to go toe-to-toe with the Cougars and only lost on a score on a broken play at the end of the 4th.

Les absences dus aux vacances, était déjà un sujet d’inquiétude, mais quand l’équipe perd le DL Alessadro Bitteti tôt dans le match, il y a avait de quoi penser que la journée allait être longue pour une équipe qui recevait le champion de la WMFL en titre. Il n’en fut rien. Le Spartans ont donné la replique à Lakeshore, ne s’inclinent que par une faible marge sur un jeu en fin de 4e.

A strong start of the game which led to a major score engineered by the FB duo Anthony Moustache and Olivier Poitras, did not result in the finding a cruising speed. tiring as the game went on, the bantams let a victory escape their grasps at the end in a game where they were more than competitive.	Une forte entame de match avec un score majeur derriere le duo de FB Anthony Moustache et Olivier Poitras, mais qui ne su amené déboucher sur un rythme de croisiere. S’essouflant au fil du match, l’équipe à laisser une victoire qui était à sa portée en 4e quart.

The inaugural game for head coach Patrick Laroche and its troops at St-Laurent. The loss of starting QB Peter Skoulos very early in the game could have been the end of any hope in the encounter. But a good performance of the defensive squad kept the Spartans in the game. The difference on the scoreboard only reflects the fact that none of the three St-Laurent TD were converted.	Match inaugural pour les troupes du nouvel entraineur Patrick Laroche. La perte en tout debut de rencontre du QB partant Peter Skoulos aurait pu sonner le glas des espoirs des Oranges & Noirs. Mais une bonne performance defensive les garda dans le match, et la difference au tableau ne tient qu’au fait qu’aucun des TD n’aient été transformés.

SPARTANS 2013  SEASON OPENER   The 2013 season started this weekend with both the Atom and Mosquito teams in league action at Ile-Bizard. The mosquito program of coach Steve Batsos, continued right where it left off during the preseason and put on an offensive display that should come as a warning to all other teams in the league. This Spartans team can move the ball as a convincing scoreline 46-24 attests. The aerial game was particularly sharp. The Atom program was not as lucky, but rookie head coach Steven Baranoff showed his team could play with the best of them. The very experienced  Vikings, provincial champions two seasons ago, had to wait very late in the fourth quarter to ensure the "W"  was theirs. A couple of unconverted opportunities and a score conceded with no time on the clock in the first half was the only difference. So dispite the loss, this can still be seen as promising start.

SPARTANS 2013  OUVERTURE DE SAISON  La saison 2013 a eu lieu ce weekend pour l'association avec l'entrée en action à Ile-Bizard des deux plus petites sections. Le programme moustique du coach Steve Batsos, ont repris exactement là où ils s'étaient arrêtés durant la pré-saison et ont assuré une animation offensive qui devrait servir d'avertissement pour toute les autres équipes de la ligue. Cette est vraiment capable de faire avancer la balle comme en atteste le score final de 46-24. Le jeu aérien a été particulièrement afuté. De son côté, l'équipe atome n'a pas eu la chance de  débuter la saison avec une victoire. Mais Steven Baranoff, le nouveau coach de l'équipe, a pu voir que sa formation pouvait lutter avec n'importe qui. Les Vikings, très expérimentés et champions provinciaux il n'y a que deux ans, ont dû attendre tard dans le 4e quart pour s'assurer de leur victoire. Une ou deux occasions non converties et les points concédés à la fin du 2e quart alors qu'il n'y avait plus de temps à l'horloge font la difference. Malgrès la défaite donc, un départ prometteur.
